What Is CO2 Laser Treatment?
At Wiechart Smile Studio, we use the LightScalpel CO2 laser, one of the most precise tools available in modern dentistry, to treat a range of oral conditions with greater comfort and faster healing than traditional methods.
The LightScalpel produces a highly focused beam of light that vaporizes tissue cleanly and precisely, sealing blood vessels at the same time. Unlike a scalpel or scissors, the laser creates no mechanical trauma to surrounding tissue. Its coagulation zone is as narrow as 50 microns, roughly the width of a single human hair, meaning less discomfort, less bleeding, and a more controlled procedure for every patient.

Tethered Oral Tissue Release — All Ages, Including Infants
Tethered oral tissues occur when the small bands of tissue connecting the lips, cheeks, or tongue to the mouth are too short or tight, restricting normal movement. This can affect feeding, speech, sleep, and overall oral development. We offer laser release for:
- Tongue Tie Release (ankyloglossia)
- Lip Tie Release (frenectomy)
- Buccal Tie Release
CO2 laser treatment for tethered oral tissues is gentle, precise, and well-suited for patients of all ages, including newborns and infants.
Additional Laser Treatments
We also use the CO2 laser to treat:
- Fibromas. Removal of benign soft tissue growths in the mouth.
